Revelation 5
1 The Scroll and the Lamb
1 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the thronever 7,13Rev 4:2,9; 6:16 a scroll with writing on both sidesEze 2:9,10 and sealedIsa 29:11; Da 12:4 with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angelRev 10:1 proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the LionGe 49:9 of the tribe of Judah,S Heb 7:14 the Root of David,Isa 11:1,10; Ro 15:12; Rev 22:16 has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals." 5 Ge 49:9; Isa 11:1,10
6 Then I saw a Lamb,ver 8,9,12,13; S Jn 1:29 looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creaturesS Rev 4:6 and the elders.S Rev 4:4 He had seven horns and seven eyes,Zec 4:10 which are the seven spirits[a] Or the sevenfold SpiritS Rev 1:4 of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.S ver 1 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creaturesS Rev 4:6 and the twenty-four eldersS Rev 4:4 fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harpRev 14:215:2 and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayersPs 141:2Rev 8:3,4 of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song:Ps 40:398:1; 149:1; Isa 42:10; Rev 14:3,4 9 Ps 40:3; Rev 14:2 9 "You are worthyRev 4:11 to take the scroll 9 Rev 4:11 9 and to open its seals, 9 because you were slain, 9 and with your bloodHeb 9:12 you purchasedS 1Co 6:20 men for God 9 1Co 6:20 9 from every tribe and language and people and nation.S Rev 13:7 9 Rev 13:7
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priestsS 1Pe 2:5 to serve our God, 10 1Pe 2:5 10 and they will reign on the earth."Rev 3:21; 20:4
