Comfort for God's People
Comfort, comfort my people, 1 says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, 2 and proclaim to her 2 that her hard service has been completed, 2 that her sin has been paid for, 2 that she has received from the Lord's hand 2 double for all her sins.
A voice of one calling: 3 "In the desert prepare 3 the way for the Lord[a]; 3 make straight in the wilderness 3 a highway for our God.[b]
Every valley shall be raised up, 4 every mountain and hill made low; 4 the rough ground shall become level, 4 the rugged places a plain.
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, 5 and all mankind together will see it. 5 For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."
