Translation:

Isaiah 45

1 "This is what the Lord says to his anointed, 1 to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of 1 to subdue nations before him 1 and to strip kings of their armor, 1 to open doors before him 1 so that gates will not be shut:

2 I will go before you 2 and will level the mountains[a]; 2 I will break down gates of bronze 2 and cut through bars of iron.

3 I will give you the treasures of darkness, 3 riches stored in secret places, 3 so that you may know that I am the Lord, 3 the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

4 For the sake of Jacob my servant, 4 of Israel my chosen, 4 I summon you by name 4 and bestow on you a title of honor, 4 though you do not acknowledge me.

5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; 5 apart from me there is no God. 5 I will strengthen you, 5 though you have not acknowledged me,

6 so that from the rising of the sun 6 to the place of its setting 6 men may know there is none besides me. 6 I am the Lord, and there is no other.

7 I form the light and create darkness, 7 I bring prosperity and create disaster; 7 I, the Lord, do all these things.
