Translation:

Isaiah 9

2 The people walking in darkness 2 have seen a great light; 2 on those living in the land of the shadow of death[a] 2 a light has dawned.

3 You have enlarged the nation 3 and increased their joy; 3 they rejoice before you 3 as people rejoice at the harvest, 3 as men rejoice 3 when dividing the plunder.

4 For as in the day of Midian's defeat, 4 you have shattered 4 the yoke that burdens them, 4 the bar across their shoulders, 4 the rod of their oppressor.

5 Every warrior's boot used in battle 5 and every garment rolled in blood 5 will be destined for burning, 5 will be fuel for the fire.

6 For to us a child is born, 6 to us a son is given, 6 and the government will be on his shoulders. 6 And he will be called 6 Wonderful Counselor,[b] Mighty God, 6 Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace 7 there will be no end. 7 He will reign on David's throne 7 and over his kingdom, 7 establishing and upholding it 7 with justice and righteousness 7 from that time on and forever. 7 The zeal of the Lord Almighty 7 will accomplish this.
