Psalms 14

1 1 1 14:1-7pp — Ps 53:1-6 1 For the director of music. Of David.

1 The fool[a] says in his heart, 1 "There is no God." 1 They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; 1 there is no one who does good.

2 The Lord looks down from heaven 2 on the sons of men 2 to see if there are any who understand, 2 any who seek God.

3 All have turned aside, 3 they have together become corrupt; 3 there is no one who does good, 3 not even one.

4 Will evildoers never learn— 4 those who devour my people as men eat bread 4 and who do not call on the Lord?

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, 5 for God is present in the company of the righteous.

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, 6 but the Lord is their refuge.

7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! 7 When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, 7 let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Psalms 15

1 1 1 A psalm of David.

1 Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary? 1 Who may live on your holy hill?

2 He whose walk is blameless 2 and who does what is righteous, 2 who speaks the truth from his heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, 3 who does his neighbor no wrong 3 and casts no slur on his fellowman,

4 who despises a vile man 4 but honors those who fear the Lord, 4 who keeps his oath 4 even when it hurts,

5 who lends his money without usury 5 and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. 5 He who does these things 5 will never be shaken.

Psalms 16

1 1 1 A miktam[b] of David.

1 Keep me safe, O God, 1 for in you I take refuge.

2 I said to the Lord, "You are my Lord; 2 apart from you I have no good thing."

3 As for the saints who are in the land, 3 they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight.[c]

4 The sorrows of those will increase 4 who run after other gods. 4 I will not pour out their libations of blood 4 or take up their names on my lips.

5 Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; 5 you have made my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; 6 surely I have a delightful inheritance.

7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; 7 even at night my heart instructs me.

8 I have set the Lord always before me. 8 Because he is at my right hand, 8 I will not be shaken.

9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; 9 my body also will rest secure,

10 because you will not abandon me to the grave,[d] 10 nor will you let your Holy One[e] see decay.
