Psalms 14

1 1 14:1-7pp — Ps 53:1-6 1 For the director of music. Of David.

The fool[a] says in his heart, 1 "There is no God." 1 They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; 1 there is no one who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven 2 on the sons of men 2 to see if there are any who understand, 2 any who seek God.

All have turned aside, 3 they have together become corrupt; 3 there is no one who does good, 3 not even one.

Will evildoers never learn— 4 those who devour my people as men eat bread 4 and who do not call on the Lord?

There they are, overwhelmed with dread, 5 for God is present in the company of the righteous.

You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, 6 but the Lord is their refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! 7 When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, 7 let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
