Psalms 27

1 1 Of David.

The Lord is my light and my salvation— 1 whom shall I fear? 1 The Lord is the stronghold of my life— 1 of whom shall I be afraid?

When evil men advance against me 2 to devour my flesh,[a] 2 when my enemies and my foes attack me, 2 they will stumble and fall.

Though an army besiege me, 3 my heart will not fear; 3 though war break out against me, 3 even then will I be confident.

One thing I ask of the Lord, 4 this is what I seek: 4 that I may dwell in the house of the Lord 4 all the days of my life, 4 to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord 4 and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble 5 he will keep me safe in his dwelling; 5 he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle 5 and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted 6 above the enemies who surround me; 6 at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; 6 I will sing and make music to the Lord.
