Psalms 3

1 1 A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

Lord, how many are my foes! 1 How many rise up against me!

Many are saying of me, 2 "God will not deliver him." Selah[a]

But you are a shield around me, O Lord; 3 you bestow glory on me and lift[b] / my Glorious One, who lifts up my head.

To the Lord I cry aloud, 4 and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah

I lie down and sleep; 5 I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

I will not fear the tens of thousands 6 drawn up against me on every side.

Arise,Lord! 7 Deliver me, O my God! 7 Strike all my enemies on the jaw; 7 break the teeth of the wicked.

From the Lord comes deliverance. 8 May your blessing be on your people. Selah
