Psalms 16

1 1 A miktam[a] of David.

Keep me safe, my God, 1 for in you I take refuge.

I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord; 2 apart from you I have no good thing."

I say of the godly who are in the land, 3 "They are the noble people 3 in whom is all my delight."

Those who run after other gods 4 will suffer more and more. 4 I will not pour out their libations of blood 4 or take up their names on my lips.

Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; 5 you have made my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; 6 surely I have a delightful inheritance.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; 7 even at night my heart instructs me.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. 8 With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; 9 my body also will rest secure,

because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, 10 nor will you let your faithful[b] one see decay.

You make known to me the path of life; 11 you will fill me with joy in your presence, 11 with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
