Psalms 3

1 1 A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. 1 +03:1-8 is numbered 3:2-9 in Hebrew texts.+1

Lord, how many are my foes! 1 How many rise up against me!

Many are saying of me, 2 "God will not deliver him."[a]

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, 3 my glory, the one who lifts my head high.

I call out to the Lord, 4 and he answers me from his holy mountain.

I lie down and sleep; 5 I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

I will not fear though tens of thousands 6 assail me on every side.

Arise, Lord! 7 Deliver me, my God! 7 Strike all my enemies on the jaw; 7 break the teeth of the wicked.

From the Lord comes deliverance. 8 May your blessing be on your people.
