Psalms 46

1 1 For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.[a] A song. 1 +046:1-11 is numbered 46:2-12 in Hebrew texts.+1

God is our refuge and strength, 1 an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way 2 and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam 3 and the mountains quake with their surging.[b]

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, 4 the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall; 5 God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; 6 he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; 7 the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done, 8 the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease 9 to the ends of the earth. 9 He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; 9 he burns the shields[c] with fire.

"Be still, and know that I am God; 10 I will be exalted among the nations, 10 I will be exalted in the earth."

The Lord Almighty is with us; 11 the God of Jacob is our fortress.
