Psalms 8

1 1 For the director of music. According to gittith.[a] A psalm of David. 1 +08:1-9 is numbered 8:2-10 in Hebrew texts.+1

Lord, our Lord, 1 how majestic is your name in all the earth! 1 You have set your glory 1 above the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants 2 you have established a stronghold against your enemies, 2 to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens, 3 the work of your fingers, 3 the moon and the stars, 3 which you have set in place,

what are mere mortals that you are mindful of them, 4 human beings that you care for them?[b]

You have made them[c] a little lower than the heavenly beings[d] 5 and crowned them[e] with glory and honor.

You made them rulers over the works of your hands; 6 you put everything under their[f] feet:

all flocks and herds, 7 and the animals of the wild,

the birds in the sky, 8 and the fish in the sea, 8 all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord, 9 how majestic is your name in all the earth!
