Food offered to idols
Now Acts 15:20;ch. 10:19as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have Rom. 14:14knowledge. Rom. 14:3Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
And ch. 13:8,9;Gal. 6:3;1 Tim. 6:4if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
But if any man love God, Ex. 33:12;Nah. 1:7;Mat. 7:23;Gal. 4:9the same is known of him.
As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that Is. 41:24an idol is nothing in the world, Deut. 4:39;& 6:4;Is. 44:8;Mark 12:29;Eph. 4:6;1 Tim. 2:5and that there is none other God but one.
For though there be that are John 10:34called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
But Mal. 2:10;Eph. 4:6to us there is but one God, the Father, Acts 17:28;Rom. 11:36of whom are all things, and we [a]in him; and John 13:13;Acts 2:36;Eph. 4:5;Phil. 2:11one Lord Jesus Christ, John 1:3;Col. 1:16;Heb. 1:2by whom are all things, and we by him.
Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some ch. 10:28with conscience of the idol unto this hour, eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is Rom. 14:14defiled.
But Rom. 14:17meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, [b]are we the better; neither, if we eat not, [c]are we the worse.
But Gal. 5:13take heed lest by any means this [d]liberty of yours become Rom. 14:13a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not ch. 10:28the conscience of him which is weak be [e]emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
And Rom. 14:15through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
But Mat. 25:40when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
Wherefore, Rom. 14:21;2 Cor. 11:29if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
