And I, brethren, when I came to you, ch. 1:17came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you ch. 1:6the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know any thing among you, Gal. 6:14;Phil. 3:8save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And Acts 18:1I was with you 2 Cor. 4:7in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching 2 Pet. 1:16was not with [a]enticing words of man's wisdom, Rom. 15:19but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not [b]stand in the wisdom of men, but 2 Cor. 4:7in the power of God.
True wisdom the gift of God
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them ch. 14:20;Heb. 5:14that are perfect: yet not 2 Cor. 1:12the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, ch. 1:28that come to nought:
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, Eph. 3:5;Col. 1:26which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
Mat. 11:25Which none of the princes of this world knew: for Luke 23:34had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
But as it is written, Is. 64:4Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But Mat. 13:11God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, Prov. 20:27;Jer. 17:9save the spirit of man which is in him? Rom. 11:33even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but Rom. 8:15the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
Mat. 16:23But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: ch. 1:18,23for they are foolishness unto him: Jude 19neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 John 4:1But he that is spiritual [c]judgeth all things, yet he himself is [d]judged of no man.
Job 15:8For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he [e]may instruct him? John 15:15But we have the mind of Christ.
