3 Thus saith the Lord; 3 For three transgressions of Is. 8:4Damascus, 3 [a]And for four, I will not [b]turn away the punishment thereof; 3 Because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4 Jer. 17:27But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, 4 Which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
5 I will break also the Jer. 51:30bar of Damascus, 5 And cut off the inhabitant from [c]the plain of Aven, 5 And him that holdeth the sceptre from [d]the house of Eden: 5 And [e]the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Thus saith the Lord; 6 For three transgressions of Jer. 47:4,5Gaza, 6 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 6 Because they [f]carried away captive the whole captivity, 6 To deliver them up to Edom:
7 Jer. 47:1But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, 7 Which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant Zeph. 2:4from Ashdod, 8 And him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, 8 And I will Ps. 81:14turn mine hand against Ekron: 8 And Ezek. 25:16the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9 Thus saith the Lord; 9 For three transgressions of Is. 23:1Tyrus, 9 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 9 Because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, 9 And remembered not 1 Ki. 5:1[g]the brotherly covenant:
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, 10 Which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11 Thus saith the Lord; 11 For three transgressions of Is. 21:11;Jer. 49:8Edom, 11 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 11 Because he did pursue his brother with the sword, 11 And [h]did cast off all pity, 11 And his anger did tear perpetually, 11 And he kept his wrath for ever:
12 But Obad. 9,10I will send a fire upon the Teman, 12 Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Thus saith the Lord; 13 For three transgressions of Jer. 49:1;Ezek. 25:2the children of Ammon, 13 And for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; 13 Because they have [i]ript up the women with child at Gilead, 13 That they might enlarge their border:
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Deut. 3:11Rabbah, 14 And it shall devour the palaces thereof, 14 ch. 2:2With shouting in the day of battle, 14 With a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15 And Jer. 49:3their king shall go into captivity, 15 He and his princes together, saith the Lord.
