God's severity toward Israel
Hear ye this, O priests; 1 And hearken, ye house of Israel; 1 And give ye ear, O house of the king; 1 For judgment is toward you, 1 Because ch. 6:9ye have been a snare on Mizpah, 1 And a net spread upon Tabor.
And the revolters are Is. 29:15profound to make slaughter, 2 [a]Though I have been [b]a rebuker of them all.
Amos 3:2I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: 3 For now, O Ephraim, ch. 4:17thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.
[c][d]They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: 4 For ch. 4:12the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, 4 And they have not known the Lord.
And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: 5 Therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; 5 Judah also shall fall with them.
Prov. 1:28They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the Lord; 6 But they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
They have Jer. 3:20dealt treacherously against the Lord: 7 For they have begotten strange children: 7 Now shall a month devour them with their portions.
Joel 2:1Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, 8 And the trumpet in Ramah: 8 Is. 10:30Cry aloud at Josh. 7:2Beth-aven, 8 After thee, O Benjamin.
Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: 9 Among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.
The princes of Judah were like them that Deut. 19:14remove the bound: 10 Therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
Ephraim is Deut. 28:33oppressed and broken in judgment, 11 Because he willingly walked after Mic. 6:16the commandment.
Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, 12 And to the house of Judah Prov. 12:4as [e]rottenness.
When Ephraim saw his sickness, 13 And Judah saw his Jer. 30:12wound, 13 Then went Ephraim 2 Ki. 15:19to the Assyrian, 13 And sent [f]to king Jareb: 13 Yet could he not heal you 13 Nor cure you of your wound.
For Lam. 3:10I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, 14 And as a young lion to the house of Judah: 14 Ps. 50:22I, even I, will tear and go away; 14 I will take away, and none shall rescue him.
I will go and return to my place, 15 [g]Till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: 15 In their affliction they will seek me early.
