Moab's devastation
The Jer. 48:1burden of Moab. 1 Because in the night Num. 21:28Ar of Moab is laid waste, and [a]brought to silence; 1 Because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and [b]brought to silence;
He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: 2 Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: 2 Lev. 21:5On all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.
In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: 3 On the tops of their houses, and in their streets, 3 Every one shall howl, [c]weeping abundantly.
And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: 4 Their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: 4 Therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; 4 His life shall be grievous unto him.
Jer. 48:31My heart shall cry out for Moab; 5 [d]His fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, 5 A heifer of three years old: 5 For Jer. 48:5by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; 5 For in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of [e]destruction.
For the waters Num. 32:36of Nimrim shall be [f]desolate: 6 For the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.
Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, 7 Shall they carry away to the [g]brook of the willows.
For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; 8 The howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beer-elim.
For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: 9 For I will bring [h]more upon Dimon, 9 2 Ki. 17:25Lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, 9 And upon the remnant of the land.
