Isaiah 16

Send 2 Ki. 3:4ye the lamb to the ruler of the land 1 2 Ki. 14:7From [a]Sela to the wilderness, 1 Unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird [b]cast out of the nest, 2 So the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Num. 21:13Arnon.

[c]Take counsel, execute judgment; 3 Make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; 3 Hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.

Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; 4 Be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: 4 For the [d]extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, 4 [e]The oppressors are consumed out of the land.

And in mercy Luke 1:33shall the throne be [f]established: 5 And he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, 5 Ps. 72:2Judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

We have heard of the Jer. 48:29pride of Moab; he is very proud: 6 Even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: 6 ch. 28:15But his lies shall not be so.

Therefore shall Moab Jer. 48:20howl for Moab, every one shall howl: 7 For the foundations 2 Ki. 3:25of Kir-hareseth shall ye [g]mourn; surely they are stricken.

For ch. 24:7the fields of Heshbon languish, and ver. 9the vine of Sibmah: 8 The lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, 8 They are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: 8 Her branches are [h]stretched out, they are gone over the sea.

Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: 9 I will water thee with my tears, ch. 15:4O Heshbon, and Elealeh: 9 For [i]the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.

And ch. 24:8;Jer. 48:33gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; 10 And in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: 10 The treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; 10 I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

Wherefore Jer. 48:36my bowels shall sound like a harp for Moab, 11 And mine inward parts for Kir-haresh.

And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on ch. 15:2the high place, 12 That he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.

This is the word that the Lord hath spoken concerning Moab since that time.

But now the Lord hath spoken, saying, 14 Within three years, ch. 21:16as the years of a hireling, 14 And the glory of Moab shall be contemned, with all that great multitude; 14 And the remnant shall be very small and [j]feeble.
