¹ Bildad reproves Job

¹ Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

² How long will it be ere you make an end of words? ² Mark, and afterwards we will speak.

³ Wherefore are we counted Ps. 73:22as beasts, ³ And reputed vile in your sight?

⁴ ch. 13:14He teareth ^[a]himself in his anger: ⁴ Shall the earth be forsaken for thee? ⁴ And shall the rock be removed out of his place?

⁵ Yea, Prov. 13:9the light of the wicked shall be put out, ⁵ And the spark of his fire shall not shine.

⁶ The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, ⁶ ch. 21:17;Ps. 18:28And his ^[b]candle shall be put out with him.

⁷ The steps of his strength shall be straitened, ⁷ And ch. 5:13his own counsel shall cast him down.

⁸ For ch. 22:10;Ps. 9:15;& 35:8he is cast into a net by his own feet, ⁸ And he walketh upon a snare.

⁹ The grin shall take him by the heel, ⁹ And ch. 5:5the robber shall prevail against him.

¹⁰ The snare is ^[c]laid for him in the ground, ¹⁰ And a trap for him in the way.

¹¹ ch. 20:25;Jer. 6:25;& 20:3,4Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, ¹¹ And shall ^[d]drive him to his feet.

¹² His strength shall be hunger-bitten, ¹² And ch. 15:23destruction shall be ready at his side.

¹³ It shall devour the ^[e]strength of his skin: ¹³ Even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.

¹⁵ It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: ¹⁵ Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

¹⁹ Is. 14:22;Jer. 22:30He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, ¹⁹ Nor any remaining in his dwellings.

²⁰ They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, ²⁰ As they that ^[g]went before ^[h]were affrighted.

²¹ Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, ²¹ And this is the place of him that Jer. 9:3;1 Thes. 4:5knoweth not God.
