Job 37

At this also my heart trembleth, 1 And is moved out of his place.

[a]Hear attentively the noise of his voice, 2 And the sound that goeth out of his mouth.

He directeth it under the whole heaven, 3 And his [b]lightning unto the [c]ends of the earth.

After it Ps. 29:3a voice roareth: 4 He thundereth with the voice of his excellency; 4 And he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

God thundereth marvellously with his voice; 5 ch. 5:9Great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

For Ps. 147:16he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; 6 [d]Likewise to the small rain, 6 And to the great rain of his strength.

He sealeth up the hand of every man; 7 Ps. 109:27That all men may know his work.

Then the beasts Ps. 104:22go into dens, 8 And remain in their places.

[e]Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: 9 And cold out of the [f]north.

Ps. 147:17By the breath of God frost is given: 10 And the breadth of the waters is straitened.

Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: 11 He scattereth [g]his bright cloud:

And it is turned round about by his counsels: 12 That they may Ps. 148:8do whatsoever he commandeth them 12 Upon the face of the world in the earth.

Ex. 9:18He causeth it to come, whether for [h]correction, 13 Or ch. 38:26for his land, or 2 Sam. 21:10;1 Ki. 18:45for mercy.

Consider his wondrous works

Hearken unto this, O Job: 14 Stand still, and Ps. 111:2consider the wondrous works of God.

Dost thou know when God disposed them, 15 And caused the light of his cloud to shine?

ch. 36:29Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, 16 The wondrous works of ch. 36:4him which is perfect in knowledge?

How thy garments are warm, 17 When he quieteth the earth by the south wind?

Hast thou with him Gen. 1:6;Is. 44:24spread out the sky, 18 Which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?

Teach us what we shall say unto him; 19 For we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.

Shall it be told him that I speak? 20 If a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.

And now men see not the bright light 21 Which is in the clouds: 21 But the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

[i]Fair weather cometh out of the north: 22 With God is terrible majesty.

Touching the Almighty, 1 Tim. 6:16we cannot find him out: ch. 36:5he is excellent in power, 23 And in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

Men do therefore Mat. 10:28fear him: 24 He respecteth not any that are Mat. 11:25wise of heart.

The Lord speaks
