God hears and acts
Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? 1 Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
[a]The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: 2 Ps. 7:16Let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
For the wicked Ps. 94:4boasteth of his [b]heart's desire, 3 And Prov. 28:4[c]blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: 4 [d]God is not in all his Ps. 14:1thoughts.
His ways are always grievous; 5 Thy judgments are far above out of his sight: 5 As for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
Eccl. 8:11;Is. 56:12He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: 6 Rev. 18:7For I shall [e]never be in adversity.
Rom. 3:14His mouth is full of cursing and [f]deceit and fraud: 7 Under his tongue is mischief and [g]vanity.
He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: 8 In the secret places doth he murder the innocent: 8 His eyes [h]are privily set against the poor.
He lieth in wait [i]secretly as a lion in his den: 9 He lieth in wait to catch the poor: 9 He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
[j]He croucheth, and humbleth himself, 10 That the poor may fall [k]by his strong ones.
He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: 11 Job 22:13He hideth his face; he will never see it.
Arise, O Lord; O God, Mic. 5:9lift up thine hand: 12 Forget not the [l]humble.
Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? 13 He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, 14 To requite it with thy hand: 14 The poor 2 Tim. 1:12[m]committeth himself unto thee; 14 Ps. 68:5Thou art the helper of the fatherless.
Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: 15 Seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Ps. 29:10The Lord is King for ever and ever: 16 The heathen are perished out of his land.
Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: 17 Thou wilt [n]prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
To Ps. 82:3judge the fatherless and the oppressed, 18 That the man of the earth may no more [o]oppress.
The Lord our refuge
