¹ A prayer for deliverance

¹ A Song of degrees.

¹ In Jonah 2:2my distress I cried unto the Lord, ¹ And he heard me.

² Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, ² And from a deceitful tongue.

^{3 [a]}What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be ^[b]done unto thee, ³ Thou false tongue?

^{4 [c]}Sharp arrows of the mighty, ⁴ With coals of juniper.

⁵ Woe is me, that I sojourn in Gen. 10:2;Ezek. 27:13Mesech, ⁵ Gen. 25:13;1 Sam. 25:1;Jer. 49:28That I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

⁶ My soul hath long dwelt ⁶ With him that hateth peace.

⁷ I am ^[d]for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
