Psalms 20

A prayer for the king

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; 1 The name of the God of Jacob [a]defend thee;

Send [b]thee help from the sanctuary, 2 And [c]strengthen thee out of Zion;

Remember all thy offerings, 3 And [d]accept thy burnt sacrifice. Selah.

Grant thee according to thine own heart, 4 And fulfil all thy counsel.

We will rejoice in thy salvation, 5 And in the name of our God we will set up our banners: 5 The Lord fulfil all thy petitions.

Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; 6 He will hear him [e]from his holy heaven 6 [f]With the saving strength of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: 7 But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

They are brought down and fallen: 8 But we are risen, and stand upright.

Save, Lord: 9 Let the king hear us when we call.

Splendor and success of the king
