David's song of confidence
A Psalm of David.
The Lord is Is. 60:19my light and Ex. 15:2my salvation; whom shall I fear? 1 Ps. 62:2The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, [a]came upon me to Ps. 14:4eat up my flesh, 2 They stumbled and fell.
Ps. 3:6Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: 3 Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
Ps. 26:8One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; 4 That I may Luke 2:37dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, 4 To behold Ps. 90:17[b]the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
For Ps. 91:1in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: 5 In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; 5 He shall Ps. 40:2set me up upon a rock.
And now shall Ps. 3:3mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: 6 Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices [c]of joy; 6 I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: 7 Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
[d]When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, 8 Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
Ps. 69:17Hide not thy face far from me; 9 Put not thy servant away in anger: 9 Thou hast been my help; leave me not, 9 Neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Is. 49:15When my father and my mother forsake me, 10 Then the Lord [e]will take me up.
Ps. 25:4Teach me thy way, O Lord, 11 And lead me in [f]a plain path, because of [g]mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: 12 For false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed 13 To see the goodness of the Lord Ezek. 26:20in the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord: 14 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: 14 Wait, I say, on the Lord.
A prayer for help
