Psalms 36

Wickedness confronts God's love

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord.

The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, 1 That Rom. 3:18there is no fear of God before his eyes.

For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, 2 [a]Until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: 3 Jer. 4:22He hath left off to be wise, and to do good.

Prov. 4:16He deviseth [b]mischief upon his bed; 4 He setteth himself Is. 65:2in a way that is not good; 4 He abhorreth not evil.

Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; 5 And thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

Thy righteousness is like [c]the great mountains; 6 Rom. 11:33Thy judgments are a great deep: 6 O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.

How [d]excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! 7 Therefore the children of men Ps. 17:8put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Ps. 65:4They shall be [e]abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; 8 And thou shalt make them drink of Job 20:17;Rev. 22:1the river of thy pleasures.

Jer. 2:13For with thee is the fountain of life: 9 1 Pet. 2:9In thy light shall we see light.

O [f]continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; 10 And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

Let not the foot of pride come against me, 11 And let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

There are the workers of iniquity fallen: 12 They are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.

Blessings to the righteous
