The burden of suffering
A Psalm of David, Ps. 70, titleto bring to remembrance.
Ps. 6:1O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
For Job 6:4thine arrows stick fast in me, And Ps. 32:4thy hand presseth me sore.
For Ezra 9:6mine iniquities are gone over mine head: As a heavy burden they are too Mat. 11:28heavy for me.
My wounds stink and are corrupt Because of my foolishness.
For my loins are filled with a Job 7:5loathsome disease: And there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am feeble and sore broken: Job 3:24I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before thee; And my groaning is not hid from thee.
They also that seek after my life 2 Sam. 17:1lay snares for me: And they that seek my hurt 2 Sam. 16:7speak mischievous things, And imagine deceits all the day long.
But 2 Sam. 16:10I, as a deaf man, heard not; Ps. 39:2,9And I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
Thus I was as a man that heareth not, And in whose mouth are no reproofs.
For I said, Hear me, Ps. 13:4lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: When my foot slippeth, they Ps. 35:26magnify themselves against me.
For I will Prov. 28:13declare mine iniquity; I will be 2 Cor. 7:9sorry for my sin.
They also Ps. 35:12that render evil for good are mine adversaries; Because I follow the thing that good is.
Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, Ps. 35:22be not far from me.
