Psalms 46

1 The presence of God in calamity

1 To the chief Musician [a]for the sons of Korah, Ps. 48;& 66A Song 1 Chr. 15:20upon Alamoth.

1 God is our refuge and strength, 1 Deut. 4:7A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, 2 And though the mountains be carried into [b]the midst of the sea;

3 Ps. 93:3,4Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, 3 Though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is See Is. 8:7a river, the streams whereof shall make glad Ps. 48:1,8;Is. 60:14the city of God, 4 The holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is Is. 12:6;Ezek. 43:7in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: 5 God shall help her, [c]and that right early.

6 Ps. 2:1The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: 6 He uttered his voice, Josh. 2:9the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; 7 The God of Jacob is Ps. 9:9[d]our refuge. Selah.

8 Ps. 66:5Come, behold the works of the Lord, 8 What desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 Is. 2:4He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; 9 Ps. 76:3He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; 9 Ezek. 39:9He burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: 10 Is. 2:11,17I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; 11 The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
