Psalms 48

A song to mount Zion

A Song and Psalm [a]for the sons of Korah.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised 1 Ps. 46:4In the city of our God, in the Is. 2:2,3;Mic. 4:1;Zech. 8:3mountain of his holiness.

Ps. 50:2;Jer. 3:19Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, 2 Is. 14:13On the sides of the north, Mat. 5:35the city of the great King.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

For lo, 2 Sam. 10:6, 14,16,18,19the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; 5 They were troubled, and hasted away.

Fear Ex. 15:15took hold upon them there, 6 And pain, as of a woman in travail.

Thou Ezek. 27:26breakest the ships of Tarshish Jer. 18:17with an east wind.

As we have heard, so have we seen 8 In the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: 8 God will establish it for ever. Selah.

We have thought of Ps. 26:3thy lovingkindness, O God, 9 In the midst of thy temple.

According to Deut. 28:58thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: 10 Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

Let mount Zion rejoice, 11 Let the daughters of Judah be glad, 11 Because of thy judgments.

Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

[b]Mark ye well her bulwarks, [c]consider her palaces; 13 That ye may tell it to the generation following.

For this God is our God for ever and ever: 14 He will be our guide even unto death.

The folly of trusting riches
