Psalms 53

1 The fate of the fool

1 To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David.

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. 1 Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: 1 Rom. 3:10There is none that doeth good.

2 God Ps. 33:13looked down from heaven upon the children of men, 2 To see if there were any that did understand, that did 2 Chr. 15:2seek God.

3 Every one of them is gone back, they are altogether become filthy; 3 There is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have the workers of iniquity Jer. 4:22no knowledge? 4 Who eat up my people as they eat bread: 4 They have not called upon God.

5 Lev. 26:17There [a]were they in great fear, where no fear was: 5 For God hath Ezek. 6:5scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: 5 Thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.

6 Ps. 14:7[b]O that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! 6 When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, 6 Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

7 A prayer for deliverance
