Psalms 6

Prayer for mercy during trouble

To the chief Musician on Neginoth 1 Chr. 15:21;Ps. 12, title[a]upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.

O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, 1 Neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: 2 O Lord, Hos. 6:1heal me; for my bones are vexed.

My soul is also sore vexed: 3 But thou, O Lord, how long?

Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: 4 O save me for thy mercy's sake.

Ps. 30:9For in death there is no remembrance of thee: 5 In the grave who shall give thee thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; 6 [b]All the night make I my bed to swim; 6 I water my couch with my tears.

Job 17:7Mine eye is consumed because of grief; 7 It waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

Mat. 25:41Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; 8 For the Lord hath Ps. 3:4heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my supplication; 9 The Lord will receive my prayer.

Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: 10 Let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

The prayer of a wronged man
