Prayer for national deliverance
To the chief Musician Ps. 80upon Shushan-eduth, [a]Michtam of David, to teach; 2 Sam. 8:3;1 Chr. 18:3when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand.
O God, Ps. 44:9thou hast cast us off, thou hast [b]scattered us, 1 Thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: 2 2 Chr. 7:14Heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
Ps. 71:20Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: 3 Jer. 25:15Thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
Ps. 20:5Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, 4 That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
Ps. 108:6That thy beloved may be delivered; 5 Save with thy right hand, and hear me.
God hath Ps. 89:35spoken in his holiness; 6 I will rejoice, I will Josh. 1:6divide Gen. 12:6Shechem, 6 And mete out Josh. 13:27the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; 7 Deut. 33:17Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; 7 Gen. 49:10Judah is my lawgiver;
Moab is my washpot; 8 Over Edom will I cast out my shoe: 8 2 Sam. 8:1Philistia, [c]triumph thou because of me.
Who will bring me into the [d]strong city? 9 Who will lead me into Edom?
Wilt not thou, O God, which Ps. 108:11hadst cast us off? 10 And thou, O God, which didst Josh. 7:12not go out with our armies?
Give us help from trouble: 11 For vain is the [e]help of man.
Through God Num. 24:18we shall do valiantly: 12 For he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
The prayer of a troubled heart
