The prayer of a troubled heart
To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David.
Hear my cry, O God; 1 Attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: 2 Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For thou hast been a shelter for me, 3 And Prov. 18:10a strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: 4 Ps. 91:4I will [a]trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: 5 Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
[b]Thou wilt prolong the king's life: 6 And his years [c]as many generations.
He shall abide before God for ever: 7 O prepare mercy Ps. 40:11and truth, which may preserve him.
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, 8 That I may daily perform my vows.
