The thirsty soul
A Psalm of David, 1 Sam. 22:5when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: 1 Ps. 42:2My soul thirsteth for thee, 1 My flesh longeth for thee, 1 In a dry and [a]thirsty land, [b]where no water is;
To see Ps. 27:4thy power and thy glory, 2 So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, 3 My lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: 4 I will lift up my hands in thy name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with [c]marrow and fatness; 5 And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
When Ps. 42:8I remember thee upon my bed, 6 And meditate on thee in the night watches.
Because thou hast been my help, 7 Therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
My soul followeth hard after thee: 8 Thy right hand upholdeth me.
But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, 9 Shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
[d]They shall fall by the sword: 10 They shall be a portion for foxes.
But the king shall rejoice in God; 11 Deut. 6:13Every one that sweareth by him shall glory: 11 But the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
