1 A call to God for help

1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, 1 Thou that leadest Joseph Ps. 77:20like a flock; 1 Thou that dwellest between the cherubims, Deut. 33:2;Ps. 50:2shine forth.
2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh 2 Stir up thy strength, 2 And [b]come and save us.
3 Lam. 5:21Turn us again, O God, 3 Num. 6:25;Ps. 4:6And cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
4 O Lord God of hosts, 4 How long [c]wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5 Ps. 42:3;Is. 30:20Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; 5 And givest them tears to drink in great measure.
6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: 6 And our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, 7 And cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
8 Thou hast brought Is. 5:1,7;Jer. 2:21;Ezek. 15:6a vine out of Egypt: 8 Ps. 44:2Thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
9 Thou preparedst room before it, 9 And didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.
10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, 10 And the boughs thereof were like [d]the goodly cedars.
11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, 11 And her branches unto the river.
12 Why hast thou then Is. 5:5;Nah. 2:2broken down her hedges, 12 So that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?
13 The boar out of the wood doth waste it, 13 And the wild beast of the field doth devour it.
14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: 14 Is. 63:15Look down from heaven, and behold, 14 And visit this vine;
15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, 15 And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
16 It is burnt with fire, it is cut down: 16 Ps. 39:11;& 76:7They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17 Ps. 89:21Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, 17 Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
18 So will not we go back from thee: 18 Quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, 19 Cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
