1 The message to Sardis
1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he ch. 1:4,16that hath the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars; ch. 2:2I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, Eph. 2:1,5and art dead.'
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.'
3 1 Tim. 6:20;2 Tim. 1:13Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and ver. 19repent. Mat. 24:42;Mark 13:33;Luke 12:39;1 Thes. 5:2,6;2 Pet. 3:10If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.'
4 Thou hast Acts 1:15a few names even in Sardis, which have not Jude 23defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me ch. 4:4;& 6:11in white: for they are worthy.'
5 He that overcometh, ch. 19:8the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not Ex. 32:32blot out his name out of the Phil. 4:3book of life, but Luke 12:8I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.'

7 The message to Philadelphia
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith Acts 3:14he that is holy, 1 John 5:20he that is true, he that hath Is. 22:22;Luke 1:32the key of David, Mat. 16:19he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and Job 12:14shutteth, and no man openeth;'
8 ver. 1I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee 1 Cor. 16:9an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.'
9 Behold, I will make ch. 2:9them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, Is. 49:23I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.'
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, 2 Pet. 2:9I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon Luke 2:1all the world, to try them that dwell Is. 24:17upon the earth.'
11 Behold, Phil. 4:5I come quickly: ch. 2:25hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take ch. 2:10thy crown.'
12 Him that overcometh will I make 1 Ki. 7:21;Gal. 2:9a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and ch. 14:1I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is Heb. 12:22new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: ch. 22:4and I will write upon him my new name.'

14 The message to Laodicea
14 And unto the angel of the church [a]of the Laodiceans write; Is. 65:16These things saith the Amen, ch. 19:11the faithful and true witness, Col. 1:15the beginning of the creation of God;'
15 ver. 1I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.'
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.'
17 Because thou sayest, Hos. 12:8;1 Cor. 4:8I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:'
18 I counsel thee Is. 55:1;Mat. 13:44to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and 2 Cor. 5:3;ch. 7:13white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.'
19 Job 5:17;Prov. 3:11;Heb. 12:5,6As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.'
20 Behold, Sol. 5:2I stand at the door, and knock: Luke 12:37if any man hear my voice, and open the door, John 14:23I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.'
