1 A Song of Praise
4 Poor people have come to you for safety. 4 You have kept needy people safe when they were in trouble. 4 You have been a place to hide when storms came. 4 You have been a shade from the heat of the sun. 4 Evil people attack us. 4 They are like a storm beating against a wall. 5 They are like the heat of the desert. 5 You stopped the noisy shouts of our enemies. 5 You kept them from winning the battle over us and singing about it. 5 You are like the shadow of a cloud that cools the earth.
7 On that mountain the Lord will destroy 7 the veil of sadness that covers all of the nations. 7 He will destroy the gloom that is spread over everyone. 8 He will swallow up death forever. 8 The Lord and King will wipe away the tears 8 from everyone's face. 8 He will remove the shame of his people 8 from the whole earth. 8 The Lord has spoken.
11 They will try to swim their way out of it. 11 They will spread their hands out in it, 11 just as swimmers spread their hands out to swim. 11 But God will bring down Moab's pride. 11 None of their skill will help them.
