1 The Lord Invites His People to Come to Him
1 "Come, all of you who are thirsty. 1 Come and drink the water I offer to you. 1 You who do not have any money, come. 1 Buy and eat the grain I give you. 1 Come and buy wine and milk. 1 You will not have to pay anything for it.
5 You too will send for nations you do not know. 5 Even though they do not know you, 5 they will hurry and come to you. 5 That is what I will do. I am the Lord your God. 5 I am the Holy One of Israel. 5 I have honored you."
7 Let those who are evil stop doing evil things. 7 And let them quit thinking evil thoughts. 7 Let them turn to the Lord. 7 He will show them his tender love. 7 Let them turn to our God. 7 He is always ready to forgive.
10 The rain and the snow 10 come down from the sky. 10 They do not return to it 10 without watering the earth. 10 They make plants come up and grow. 10 The plants produce seeds for farmers. 10 They also produce food for people to eat.
12 "My people, you will leave Babylonia with joy. 12 You will be led out of it in peace. 12 The mountains and hills 12 will burst into song as you go. 12 And all of the trees in the fields 12 will clap their hands.
13 Pine trees will grow where there used to be bushes that had thorns on them. 13 And myrtle trees will grow where there used to be thorns. 13 That will bring me great fame. 13 It will be a lasting reminder of what I can do. 13 It will not be forgotten."
