Isaiah 65

New Heavens and a New Earth

"Behold, I will create 17 new heavens and a new earth. 17 The former things will not be remembered, 17 nor will they come to mind.

But be glad and rejoice forever 18 in what I will create, 18 for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight 18 and its people a joy.

I will rejoice over Jerusalem 19 and take delight in my people; 19 the sound of weeping and of crying 19 will be heard in it no more.

"Never again will there be in it 20 an infant who lives but a few days, 20 or an old man who does not live out his years; 20 he who dies at a hundred 20 will be thought a mere youth; 20 he who fails to reach[a] a hundred 20 will be considered accursed.

They will build houses and dwell in them; 21 they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

No longer will they build houses and others live in them, 22 or plant and others eat. 22 For as the days of a tree, 22 so will be the days of my people; 22 my chosen ones will long enjoy 22 the works of their hands.

They will not toil in vain 23 or bear children doomed to misfortune; 23 for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, 23 they and their descendants with them.
