Psalms 11

1 1 For the director of music. Of David.

In the Lord I take refuge. 1 How then can you say to me: 1 "Flee like a bird to your mountain.

For look, the wicked bend their bows; 2 they set their arrows against the strings 2 to shoot from the shadows 2 at the upright in heart.

When the foundations are being destroyed, 3 what can the righteous do[a] ?"

The Lord is in his holy temple; 4 the Lord is on his heavenly throne. 4 He observes the sons of men; 4 his eyes examine them.

The Lord examines the righteous, 5 but the wicked[b] the Righteous One, examines the wicked, / and those who love violence 5 his soul hates.

On the wicked he will rain 6 fiery coals and burning sulfur; 6 a scorching wind will be their lot.

For the Lord is righteous, 7 he loves justice; 7 upright men will see his face.
