Psalms 8

1 1 For the director of music. According to gittith.[a] A psalm of David.

Lord, our Lord, 1 how majestic is your name in all the earth! 1 You have set your glory 1 above the heavens.

From the lips of children and infants 2 you have ordained praise[b] 2 because of your enemies, 2 to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens, 3 the work of your fingers, 3 the moon and the stars, 3 which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him, 4 the son of man that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[c] 5 and crowned him with glory and honor.

You made him ruler over the works of your hands; 6 you put everything under his feet:

all flocks and herds, 7 and the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air, 8 and the fish of the sea, 8 all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord, 9 how majestic is your name in all the earth!
