The idols among the smooth stones of the ravines are your portion; 6 they, they are your lot. 6 Yes, to them you have poured out drink offerings 6 and offered grain offerings. 6 In view of all this, should I relent?
Behind your doors and your doorposts 8 you have put your pagan symbols. 8 Forsaking me, you uncovered your bed, 8 you climbed into it and opened it wide; 8 you made a pact with those whose beds you love, 8 and you looked on their nakedness.
"Whom have you so dreaded and feared 11 that you have not been true to me, 11 and have neither remembered me 11 nor taken this to heart? 11 Is it not because I have long been silent 11 that you do not fear me?
When you cry out for help, 13 let your collection of idols save you! 13 The wind will carry all of them off, 13 a mere breath will blow them away. 13 But whoever takes refuge in me 13 will inherit the land 13 and possess my holy mountain."
Comfort for the Contrite
For this is what the high and exalted One says— 15 he who lives forever, whose name is holy: 15 "I live in a high and holy place, 15 but also with those who are contrite and lowly in spirit, 15 to revive the spirit of the lowly 15 and to revive the heart of the contrite.
I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; 18 I will guide them and restore comfort to them, 19 creating praise on the lips of the mourners in Israel. 19 Peace, peace, to those far and near," 19 says the Lord. "And I will heal them."
"There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."
