1 1 14:1-7pp — Ps 53:1-6 1 For the director of music. Of David.
Fools[a] say in their hearts, 1 "There is no God." 1 They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; 1 there is no one who does good.
The Lord looks down from heaven 2 on the human race 2 to see if there are any who understand, 2 any who seek God.
All have turned away, all have become corrupt; 3 there is no one who does good, 3 not even one.
Do all these evildoers know nothing? 4 They devour my people as though eating bread; 4 they never call on the Lord.
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, 5 for God is present in the company of the righteous.
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, 6 but the Lord is their refuge.
Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! 7 When the Lord restores his people, 7 let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
