Psalms 30

1 1 A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple.[a] Of David. 1 +030:1-12 is numbered 30:2-13 in Hebrew texts.+1

I will exalt you, Lord, 1 for you lifted me out of the depths 1 and did not let my enemies gloat over me.

Lord my God, I called to you for help, 2 and you healed me.

You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; 3 you spared me from going down to the pit.

Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; 4 praise his holy name.

For his anger lasts only a moment, 5 but his favor lasts a lifetime; 5 weeping may remain for a night, 5 but rejoicing comes in the morning.

When I felt secure, I said, 6 "I will never be shaken."

Lord, when you favored me, 7 you made my royal mountain[b] stand firm; 7 but when you hid your face, 7 I was dismayed.

To you, Lord, I called; 8 to the Lord I cried for mercy:

"What is gained if I am silenced, 9 if I go down to the pit? 9 Will the dust praise you? 9 Will it proclaim your faithfulness?

Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; 10 Lord, be my help."

You turned my wailing into dancing; 11 you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,

that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. 12 Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
