Psalms 64

1 1 For the director of music. A psalm of David. 1 +064:1-10 is numbered 64:2-11 in Hebrew texts.+1

Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; 1 protect my life from the threat of the enemy.

Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, 2 from the plots of evildoers.

They sharpen their tongues like swords 3 and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.

They shoot from ambush at the innocent; 4 they shoot suddenly, without fear.

They encourage each other in evil plans, 5 they talk about hiding their snares; 5 they say, "Who will see it[a] ?"

They plot injustice and say, 6 "We have devised a perfect plan!" 6 Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.

But God will shoot them with his arrows; 7 they will suddenly be struck down.

He will turn their own tongues against them 8 and bring them to ruin; 8 all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.

All people will fear; 9 they will proclaim the works of God 9 and ponder what he has done.

The righteous will rejoice in the Lord 10 and take refuge in him; 10 all the upright in heart will glory in him!
