Psalms 28

1 1 Of David.

To you, Lord, I call; 1 you are my Rock, 1 do not turn a deaf ear to me. 1 For if you remain silent, 1 I will be like those who go down to the pit.

Hear my cry for mercy 2 as I call to you for help, 2 as I lift up my hands 2 toward your Most Holy Place.

Do not drag me away with the wicked, 3 with those who do evil, 3 who speak cordially with their neighbors 3 but harbor malice in their hearts.

Repay them for their deeds 4 and for their evil work; 4 repay them for what their hands have done 4 and bring back on them what they deserve.

Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord 5 and what his hands have done, 5 he will tear them down 5 and never build them up again.

Praise be to the Lord, 6 for he has heard my cry for mercy.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; 7 my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. 7 My heart leaps for joy, 7 and with my song I praise him.

The Lord is the strength of his people, 8 a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

Save your people and bless your inheritance; 9 be their shepherd and carry them forever.
