Survey Results from 11/27/06

This survey can almost be considered two surveys: Votes for the favorite listed preachers and write-in votes for preachers not listed.

In all, we had 453 church leaders respond with their opinions. In the first poll (of listed pastors), Chuck Swindoll nicked Billy Graham for first place with 38 votes. Graham got 36. Charles Spurgeon was third with 33 votes—not bad for a guy that’s been gone for over 114 years! John MacArthur tallied a solid 31 votes and another departed orator, John Wesley, had 24. Surprisingly, Rick Warren had 19 votes, less than one might expect in light of the prominent leadership role he’s played in recent years.

In the write-in poll, 174 elected to skip the suggested list and vote for their own candidate. Significantly, T.D. Jakes lead the pack with 13 write-in votes. (One would wonder how many more nods this gifted preacher would have tallied were he an unqualified Trinitarian!) Adrian Rogers had a solid 10 write-ins with Andy Stanley, David Jeremiah, and Charles Stanley also making a strong showing. Worth mentioning is Joyce Meyer who made the Top 15 Write-Ins with 3 votes.

Those pastors that chose "Other" wrote in their favorite preachers. Here are the results:
