About Adam
  • Education: I just graduated from Missouri Baptist College in St. Louis. I am getting ready to start classes at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: James Merritt, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Snellville, Georgia and current president of the Southern Baptist Convention did a series of messages of evangelism entitled "The Harvest." These sermons have shaped much of my thinking and effort in reaching people for Christ.
  • Family: I am single, but have a incredible girlfriend. Her name is Andrea Stovall. Not only is she a babe, but better than that, she is a godly woman.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: From the first time I preached that 5 minute, stuttered "masterpiece" until now, I think they have liked every message.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Jeff MacDonald, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City advised me to focus on mainly on two things - Preach the Word and Love the people. Al Fasol wrote in his book on preaching that a preacher can only preach as well as he can pray.
  • Books that have had an impact: 1. "Pursuit of God" by A.W. Tozer 2. "The Wonderful Spirit-filled Life" by Charles Stanley 3. "Reconnecting" and "The Meaning of a Man" by Ronnie Floyd 4. "Desiring God" by John Piper 5. "Disciples are Made - Not Born" by Walter Henrichsen 6. "Systematic Theology" by Wayne Grudem (No particular order)

God has given us in this text, three characteristics of what it takes to be an effective evangelistic church.

This week we are returning to our study in the book of Acts. The title of this series has been, “What a Church Should Look Like.” By now I hope we are beginning to see the structure of how Luke is writing. It seems as if he is flipping back and forth between two perspectives. One perspective is ...read more

What does a great church look like and how can we have one?

Leadership Magazine carried a story about 4 young men, Bible College students, who were renting a house together. One Saturday morning someone knocked on their door. And when they opened it, there stood this bedraggled-looking old man. His eyes were kind of marbleized, & he had a silvery stub of ...read more

What should our attitude and praying be like since we have been enlisted in the war-time effort of spreading the gospel?

As your turning to Acts 4:23-31, I want to read what John Piper wrote concerning prayer. Listen to the imagery that he uses as he describes the true purpose of prayer. “Life is war. That’s not all it is. But it is always that. Our weakness in prayer is owing largely to our neglect of ...read more
