Comment to those looking at my sermons: Please don’t judge this sermon on the diction or construction or the glaring lack of scholarship... know that it is from God and thru my pen to the people God wanted to hear...
Sound biblical exposition MUST be the foundation for every message preached! Seek to expose the truth of God's Word in your message and how His Word applies to the lives of God's Creation...
Sermon or series that made a difference: A sermon that changed my life was preached in April of 1995. I do not remember much of the sermon, but the Scripture was about was about Joab and Absalom and Absalom got Joab’s attention by burning his barley field... the application by the evangelist was that what has God got to do to get your attention... does he have to burn your barley field? I surrendered to the ministry that night after running from God and full time ministry for over 10 years.
One of my favorite illustrations: In marriage counseling I like to use the ’triangle’ illustration to reveal to the potential couple that putting Christ as the center of their marriage only serves to bring them together!

What my parents think of my sermons: My mother tells me she likes my sermons, and my dad who passed away in Dec 2009 said he liked them as well, but it is really never a topic of discussion between us... They are/were believers and I will rejoice with both of them in heaven!
What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Slow, clunky starts and sometimes I repeat myself too much, but overall she is very encouraging (but still very honest) in her critiques of my sermons! I can always count on her to always be honest with me... when I ’lay an egg’ she is going to tell me and when I ’hit a homerun’ she will tell me!
Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach THE Word, don’t preach YOUR word, don’t preach your congregation’s words, preach THE Word! Stay true to the text and follow God’s guidance!
Make sure what you PREACH can be APPLIED to the lives of those to whom you preach!
Books that have had an impact: The Bible! Henry Blackaby’s "Experiencing God" Bible Study, A Case for Faith by Lee Strobel, Simple Church by Eric Gieger and Thom Rainer

If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus loves you and it is His desire that you NOT perish but have the everlasting life that only He can provide... won’t you hear Him and accept His love into your life?
Something funny that happened while preaching: Cell phone rang during the invitation & the lady was so embarrassed she got up and ran out screaming, "I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!" It took me a couple of seconds to regain my composure...
What I want on my tombstone: He was a faithful servant, husband, father and son...
