One of my favorite illustrations: The guy with the retriever that walked over the water to retrieve the bird he shot and when the guy finally shows off what the dog can do to his two friends and says "what do you think?" and his friend says "your dog can’t swim, can he?" I got that one from here.
Family: I am third gen. pastor and officer of the American Rescue Workers. I have a brother, Paul and three sisters;Evangeline, Christine and Sandy. All of us are involved in the ministry of the A.R.W. on one level or another. My wife works along side of me and my daughter volunteers on our Hunger Relief and Disaster Relief ministries. My father and mother (Generals Paul & Katherine Martin) recently retired after serving over 50 years in this ministry and serving 16 years as General.
What my parents think of my sermons: My mother says that my sermons are getting much better. What does that mean?
What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She usually tells me when I’ve preached well. She always tells me when I don’t. Sometimes I wish she weren’t so honest. But really, she doesn’t hold back and it always helps me to work on my weak areas.
Hobbies: Mostly fishing and carpentry. But I noticed I’m picking up my tools less and my fishing gear more. Go figure.
If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I would say "I promise that this is the last time you are going to hear me preach this sermon."
What I want on my tombstone: 2 Corinthians 13:11
