1. Meet Teens Where They Are We must meet teens where they are. Every individual is at a different place. As parents, pastors, youth leaders and adults, it is important that we build relationships ... read morewith teenagers and find out where they are in their own faith. Do not be quick to judge, but try to understand the world they live in and the different issues they face day after day. Invest time in them and show them that you care. Love and understanding is the platform from which we must speak truth into their lives. 2. Build a Strong Foundation in Your Own Life If we want to help teenagers build a strong foundation, we must have one first. This is absolutely essential. We cannot take people where we have not been or teach what we do not know. We must make sure that we truly understand concepts like sin, repentance, discipleship, spiritual warfare, prayer and what it really means to follow Christ in all things. Teenagers today are not familiar with the Bible Stories that we have grown to love and cherish and use in lifes circumstances. As a parent or grandparent, be ready to answer questions and lead your teenagers to the truth�and don�t be afraid to probe their conscious. 3. Be an Example This generation has seen and heard enough hypocrisy in the church. A lot of times, your greatest message is your life.Build relationships with teenagers, take them out to lunch, invest your time in them; and as you do so, show them what it means to walk this Christian life. Show them what it means to have an authentic and vibrant relationship with Christ. Because more and more teenagers believe in a "new Christianity", we must grab a hold of the hunger they do have and lead them to the reality of Jesus Christ. As we implement these principles, teenager by teenager, we can change mindsets and teach this nation�s youth to have a foundation this world�s value systems cannot shake. A Lighthouse Ground Zero is Prayer of Faith World Outreach�s ministry to teens on Wednesday nights. Wednesday nights the fun and fellowship begin at 6 pm in the Ground Zero building. Games, drama, worship, friends, we have it all including concerts and carnivals during the year! Photo identification cards are given to teens who come on a regular basis, which are used for signing in and receive a ticket for a chance to win a prize during the youth service. There�s a snack bar available to load up on munchies and crunchies PLUS first-time visitors get free food and drink! We have pool tables, foosball, air hockey, basketball and lots of video games--ALL FREE! Adult monitors and security are on the grounds for your teenagers safety. At 7 pm, the Youth Service begins consisting of contemporary praise songs lasting about 20-30 minutes followed by an inspiring youth message by one of our GZ Team Counselors. Prayer time and youth counseling follows if needed. We encourage teens to bring their Bibles to follow along in the message. Prizes are sometimes awarded for taking notes or bringing your Bible. Afterwards, recreation time and teen socializing resumes until 9pm. At that time, parents can pick your teen up.

Have taught teens for 28 years through Sunday School with a central focus on discipleship.

I have a wonderful wife named Kecia, and two beautiful daughters, Halie age 19 and Laryn age 14. Kecia is a high school teacher in our hometown. Halie is attending a local university and majoring in biology. Laryn will be in high school and involved with the band. [less]
